The History of Reiki
Around 1800 the doctor USUI MIKAO was conductig a christian seminary in KYOTO to reply to his students that were questionning him about the miracles of Jesus, in particular the healings he accomplished while touching the sick with his bare hands. This led Dr. Usui to a long quest, taking him to the US, to China and finally to Tibet.

He eventually found part of the answers in handwritten sanscrits. The final comprehension came to him after a long meditation on top of Mount Yuri Yama at 25km off KYOTO. During this great illumination he experienced the form of the universal vital force and the possibility to contact and utilise it, the way we still do today and the way it has been done over 3000 years ago.

Mikao USUI then started with great success to treat the beggers in the outskirts of KYOTO.

A few years later, he had the opportunity to meet with some of his former patients.  To his great disappointment he had to admit that the beggers had returned to their previous way of living. They actually preferred being sick beggers to health and work.

At this point he noticed that a physical healing cannot be complete and lasting in time if it is not accompanied by a psychological and mental balance.

He understood that REIKI should not be given away for free, but that there always need to be an exchange of some kind.
